Artist Creates Over 1,000 Paintings Using Just His Tongue
AN Indian artist is giving fans a taste of his work - by painting with his tongue instead of a brush. Ani K, from Kerela, has produced over 1,000 artworks - including an eight-foot rendering of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper. Ani applies paint to his palette, mixes it by licking the various shades and then scoops it up ready to be applied to the canvas. He achieves various strokes by tilting and twisting his head - helping him create intricate portraits and elaborate modernist artworks. Each painting takes between three and four days to create.

He expresses the tring and difficult nature of these times of change and yet, also states that there is a light of hope in the fast economic growth Ethiopia is currently undergoing. He speaks out against the presence of corruption in government in the use of public land and appeal processes for personal gain.
The Ethiopian Renaissance, he states, began roughly 15 years ago and has demonstrated considerable fruits. The strong unity of Ethiopians who come from diverse ethnicities which are all respected and encouraged to develop and grow is a central theme of this speech. Ethiopia, Chinese companies ink deal for intelligent power supply
Gossaye Mengiste, CEO of Ethiopia's EEU signs deal with Giant Chinese Companies for Better Connected Ethiopia
Gossaye Mengiste, CEO of Ethiopian Electric Utility, sits front and center in front of two flower bouquets at a signing ceremony with what representatives of two giant Chinese companies on both sides of him. This CCTV Africa news update announces that two Chinese companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to build a ‘better connected’ intelligent power supply grid in Ethiopia.
Gossaye Mengiste speaks, thanking the two companies coming together to share their experience and practice. This will help Ethiopia’s electricity sector and he sees this as a very good opportunity for Ethiopians and help the sector to give a better service for its end-users. Gossaye views this as a step forward for the second phase of Ethiopia's five-year Growth and Transformation Plan.
According to Xinhuanet, another Chinese news service, China Electric Power Equipment and Technology (CET) and the telecom giant Huawei are the two firms that signed with the Ethiopian Electric Utility on Tuesday, Dec.6 in Addis Ababa. Yet at 0:58 of CCTV video there is a logo of the the State Grid Corporation of China which is a state owned Chinese company, hailed on Wikipedia as the largest electricity utility company in the world.
Ni Zheng the Vice President of Huawei North Africa also spoke at this event and according to Xinhua is quoted as saying: “I am very confident that Huawei and CET will help EEU to shift to smart grid with continuous research and innovation.”.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia La Yifan sees this as a ‘leapfrog’ for Ethiopia electric services from low-meters to smart meters. Low meters maybe the devices common in the average Ethiopian household. The ambassador goes on to place Ethiopia as one of the top three power generators in Africa, and a potential contributor in this respect to neighboring countries such as Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya.
