Uncontacted people, also referred to as isolated people or lost tribes, are communities who live, or have lived, either by choice (peoples living in voluntary isolation) or by circumstance, without significant contact with global civilization. Few peoples have remained totally uncontacted by global civilization. Indigenous rights activists call for such groups to be left alone, stating that it will interfere with their right to self-determination.[1] Most uncontacted communities are located in densely forested areas in South America, New Guinea, India, and Central Africa. Knowledge of the existence of these groups comes mostly from infrequent and sometimes violent encounters with neighboring tribes, and from aerial footage. Isolated tribes may lack immunity to common diseases, which can kill a large percentage of their people after contact.

Uncontacted tribes are a source of fascination in "contacted" society, and the idea of tour operators offering extreme adventure tours to specifically search out uncontacted people has become controversial.

It is believed that the last group of uncontacted native peoples in North America were the Lacandón people, discovered in the early part of the 20th century. Both Ishi's Yahi family, and the Lacandón Maya, were aware of European colonization and the civilization that had developed from it, but purposefully avoided any direct contact, preferring to interact only with other native peoples.

The Uncontacted Indians of Peru
There are an estimated 15 uncontacted tribes living in the Peruvian Amazon, all face catastrophe unless their land is protected
Survival has been calling on the Peruvian government to protect land inhabited by uncontacted tribes since the 1970s.
Today, five reserves have been created for uncontacted tribes, and Peru has ratified laws that uphold the tribes’ right to be left alone.

But now the threats are greater than ever. Illegal loggers and miners are invading the forest, and oil and gas concessions cut across more than 70% of Peru’s Amazon region.

We’re campaigning to ensure the government upholds uncontacted tribes’ right to their land and prevents outsiders from invading it.

The Top 10 Most Horrible Countries to Live In

Number 10: Kenya

Kenya was one of Africa’s most developed countries and a popular tourist destination. In recent years it has become a place of political and economic turmoil. Leaders have been brought to International Criminal Court and accusations of human rights violations have tainted the country.

Number 9: Ethiopia

One of the reasons Ethiopia joins the list as one of the worst countries to live is in fact another country, Somalia. Somalian refugees have strained the already critical resources of a struggling country. Shelter, food and water are scarce and they remain fully dependent on foreign aid and support.

Number 8: Sierra Leone

With a population of 8 million, the ebola virus wiped out 3,000 people and another 10,000 were stricken ill. The country is most well known for the term ‘blood diamond’. Diamonds that were mined during the many years of civil war that were sold to fund illegal operations/drug trade. The majority of the population has no access to adequate healthcare. Epidemics of yellow fever and cholera happen every year, killing thousands of people.

Number 7: Syria

United Nations has stated that on average since 2011, 10,000 people have been killed every year due to the crackdown on any opposition that is shown to the government. Even with enormous sanctions opposed by the international community, the country still continues to have political uprisings and mass executions.

Number 6: North Korea

North Korea is ruled by the government. The country is completely cut off from the outside. There is no communications except via government sanctioned communication channels. Electricity is scarce and North Korea appears black from satellite feeds, while the rest of the world appears lit. If anyone disagrees with ruler, Kim Jong-il, they are killed. There are stories of Jong-il killing his own family members by having starving dogs rip them to pieces.

Number 5: Nigeria

People in Nigeria are ruled by fear. The terrorist Islamist group Boko Haram routinely demolishes Christian churches and schools. The terrorist group claims to be protecting citizens from becoming Westernized. The country is in a constant state of political unrest and widespread violence.
Number 4: Ivory Coast

Widespread famine, political unrest, and multiple human rights violations are all ingredients in a recipe for being one of the worst countries to live in. Peaceful protests have turned into massacres, with the government’s leaders ordering protesters to be shot and killed.

Number 3: Democratic Republic of Congo

Civil war, starvation, political corruption plague the country of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The country is known as the ‘rape capital of the world’ due to the extreme amount of atrocious and violent acts committed every year.

Number 2: Somalia

Drought, famine, and disease kill tens of thousands of people living in Somalia every year. Civil wars and tribal uprisings, kidnappings, and government human rights violations are plentiful. Somalia is the 2nd worst country to live.

Number 1:

Even after the genocidal reign of terror the death of dictator Saddam Hussein brought, in 2007, it was determined that over 1 million people including innocent Iraqi citizens were killed in suicide attacks, being indirect targets of bombing raids, and other violence due to the ongoing war. The infrastructure is poor with over half of Iraqi citizens in need of housing. Being an oil rich nation, this country has lots of potential but with the current crisis in the middle east, it will be a very long time for the country to have a prosperous economy and become anywhere near a good place to live.

Time for the question of the day:

Do you think the people in all these countries realize how bad they really have it? If you lived in one of these horrible countries, would you risk you life or your children’s life to escape?

Jesse Shand bullied people across the Internet from the safety of his mother’s home to make himself feel better about his colossal weight gain. But when he began to troll bodybuilders on an online forum they demanded he show a picture of himself – when he did his life changed forever. Instead of giving Jesse a taste of his own medicine the bodybuilders gave him tips on how to get in shape and they were not going to accept any excuses. The 28-year-old became a recluse and troll who eventually weighed more than 700 pounds before he started trying to lose weight in May 2013.
