Ethiopian man dies after being hit by car on way to work
PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. (ABC7) — Family and friends are mourning the loss of a 64-year-old Ethiopian immigrant killed Thursday morning in Gainesville.
The victim's son tells ABC7's Suzanne Kennedy that Girma Genemo was walking to the nearby Gainseville United Methodist Church to pick up his bus which he was to drive today. He lived less than a quarter mile from the parking lot. Prince William County Police say the accident took place at 6:30 a.m. on Linton Hall Road at Limestone Drive. The driver of the red Cadillac, which struck Genemo stayed on the scene.
Genemo worked for BLS limo where he was a bus driver. He had worked for that company for five years. A manager at that company tells ABC7 that Genemo was a "good man" and that it is a "sad day for their company"
