Chernobyl Blade Runner: Overcoming Adversity After Nuclear Fallout
DOUBLE amputee Tatsiana Khvitsko has defied all odds to become a competitive runner and crossfitter – on prosthetic blades. The 24-year-old was born in Belarus and has no legs and just three fingers on her left hand and one on her right as a result of Chernobyl radiation. After her parents sent her to an orphanage Tatsiana looked set to be rough, but doctors from America brought her to Kansas and gave her a new lease of life. No she runs half marathons and has made a name for herself in the crossfit scene after taking up weightlifting last year.
