Metema border crossing closed after ‘brutal’ killing of Ethiopians in Sudan
Ethiopia and Sudan have closed their border crossing at Metema town amid growing tension over the 'brutal' killing of 8 Ethiopians inside Sudan on August 26.
The border closure has been effective since August 27 after Ethiopian officials said some citizens tried to ‘overpower and revenge the Sudanese’. Teshome Agmas, the Mayor of Metema Yohannes town, has told DireTube’s reporter that the incident happened some 10km away from the Sudanese town of Galabat and it is not yet clear why the 8 Ethiopian truck drivers that were invited into Sudan for work were killed.
