Latest defection of opposition shows crack of groups in Eritrea: Analyst to DireTube
The defection of 800 opposition members from Eritrea shows the varying interests the major 3 Ethiopian opposition groups in Eritrea have, a security and political science analyst has told DireTube.
Meresa Tsehaye, Assistant Professor at Mekelle University’s Political Science and Strategic Studies Department, made the remarks after the Ethiopian government announced that some 800 members of an armed opposition group have returned home from Eritrea.
A joint statement issued by the Ethiopian National Intelligence and Security Service and Federal Police Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce has indicated that members of the Tigray People’s Democratic Movement have arrived to Ethiopia on September 12 ‘as a result of a secret contacts held with Ethiopian security service for a year.’
