US Embassy in Addis Warned US Citizens to take
Precaution Measures during the up Coming Anti-Gay Demonstration.On
April 12, a panel discussion described as “Fighting Homosexuality in Ethiopia”
is scheduled to take place at the Addis Ababa City Hall, located in Piazza,
near the St. George Cathedral. At least 1,500 participants are expected to attend
the event. Additionally, on April 26, a demonstration described as
“anti-homosexual” has been approved by government officials to take place in
Addis Ababa. At this time, the Embassy has no information about the location of
this demonstration. These events could involve inflammatory and emotional
statements. U.S. citizens are advised to avoid these events.
