On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, while the launch of the landmark American Chamber of Commerce was taking place at the Sheraton, American Embassy’s Peter Vrooman asked for a consistent and unhindered internet service in the country.
He stated that this is necessary for a good trade environment and also that this is related to the current U.S travel warning since the lack of adequate internet access makes it very difficult to ascertain the well being of American citizens around the country. Oromiya Zone law officer receives 15-year prison sentence for forgery
Melkam Shome received a 15-year prison sentence for forging a judge’s signature and fabricating documents related to an inheritance court sentencing while working as a law officer. He changed the judge's decision in favor of the losing party and was apprehended and charged shortly afterward.
Ethiopian soldiers charged with Military treason.
Alleged members of Oromo Liberation Front and Arbegnoch Ginbar have been charged with treason and terrorism. The soldiers and civilians in question are believed to have been in Eritrea where they received military training. Awol Aba Gida and Sayyid Mohamed, Andualem Yasin, Samira Aman are among the suspects believed to be members of the OLO (Oromo Liberation Front). Awol Aba Gida is believed to have received military and political training with 500 OLO soldiers. Awol and Mulugeta Ketisa are reputed to have entered into Ethiopia through Northern Sudan to conduct various operations, after being trained on how to deceive security forces in case of interrogation. Andualem Yasin is believed to have been a member of the Arbegnoch Ginbar and being appointed to an information and security position for the purposes of recruting new members and gathering intelligence.
Fire in Oromiya Western Shoa has destroyed 73 homes. Over 300 Inhabitants have been rendered homeless and enset, the main crop in the area is ruined. Outside of the Red Cross provided tents and provisions they have not received assistance from the Weyisso woreda authority as of.
