At least six million Ethiopian children are facing a critical food shortage because of the African country’s worst drought in 50 years.
International charity organizations say millions of children are at high risk of malnutrition and waterborne diseases. About 30 million people are affected by the drought in Ethiopia. More than one-third of them are in need of emergency food assistance. The country has urged the world to donate more food aid as the drought intensifies. Hundreds of thousands of people were killed in the African nation’s drought in the 1980s.
